OASIS Community Carol Service: 21 December
As
usual there was a big turn out for this uplifting service
with everyone in good voice, especially the OASIS Choir
drawn from the surrounding businesses. The excellent address
by Cardinal Keith Patrick O'Brien was thought-provoking.
It did not lack in humour, witness the gales of laughter!
Who will ever forget the three words: "Let me oot!"
After the service Standard Life's 40 Minute Milers received
the Fun Run Trophy for raising the most money for charity
at last year's event. There was much applause. The coffee,
mince pies, and socialising ended all too soon, but ripples
from the service are still being felt by the homeless in
Edinburgh through Fresh Start and by those who benefit from
Amazon Ferry Hope & Health, because the retiring collection,
which was split equally between those two charities, raised
the magnificent sum of £726. Thank you.
