This
was an experience of the Labyrinth.
The
peace of it all! The stepping out from the pressures of
the office and indeed of pre-Christmas preparations
.
The church can never have looked more lovely: fresh Christmas
tree, stunning candles and candles and candles.
We
turned up as and when we were able, and when we did we were
given a CD player. One click and in the beautifully but
subtly lit church we suddenly heard refreshing, relaxing
music and then a smooth, gentle woman's voice. She helped
us calm down, relax, think about who we are, where we are
at, who God is, who He is for us.
Each
person went round the 10 or so "stations" at his/her
own pace. Under the "Leonardo da Vinci" Last Supper
relief was a central station - a low table with bread on
a platter and wine in a goblet. An invitation to taste
and see? Here's what the voice said at this point
This
is holy space
God
is here
You
are welcome
This
is your space to be with God
And
God's space to be with you
Make
yourself at home
Be
yourself
Be
real
There's
no rush
Let
God love you
Let
God know you
Let
God heal you
Let
God speak to you
Receive
from God
Commune
with God
Feed
on God
.such
a sense of peace, being outside time, resting
.
What
a beautiful experience it was: very private, very meaningful.
Dorothy
Neilson and Ruth Gillett have offered to lay this on again,
perhaps once a "term", and as an open house, i.e.
from, say, noon until 6.00p.m.
You'll
so appreciate it if you can catch ½ an hour in the
Labyrinth.
