Report
on OASIS Community Easter Service - 16 April
Over
30 gathered in St Cuthbert's Church, in an informal semi-circle
near the chancel steps. However, this OASIS Holy Week Service
had a special poignancy for both the congregation and for
Dorothy and Peter Neilson who led the worship. As most people
will now know this was Peter's last Easter in OASIS because
the Church of Scotland has appointed him Missions Development
Facilitator for the whole country from the summer.
The
service was a moving experience, especially so during Peter's
solo rendition of "Were you there when they crucified
my Lord?" Peter and Dorothy took us through several
Bible readings and reflections, weaving in some thoughts
from Julian or Norwich, a saintly woman who lived in the
14th century and is best known for her words:
Yes,
all shall be well, and all shall be well
And I shall find my ground in God
And shall see for myself
That all manner of things shall be well
Tea/coffee
and hot cross buns in the Lammermuir Lounge afterwards provided
a convivial conclusion to a truly memorable occasion in
this very special week.
The
retiring collection for HIV/AIDS sufferers in Southern Africa
raised £80.
