INTER-OFFICE QUIZ NIGHT REPORT

There was an excellent turn-out at this ever-popular event on Wednesday 26 October. Do look at the photos below taken by Irene Gill the OASIS photographer.

We had such fun and Ben Williams, the OASIS Task Group Convenor, proved himself to be a fantastic Quiz Master. As well as setting 12 rounds of questions and running the event with great calm and charm he also displayed his computing skills by giving out running scores and correct answers after every 3 rounds. It was this latter task which caused the most hilarity. Perhaps the funniest answer arose from the question "In a dating agency column what do the letters "ala" stand for?" This elicited the answer from one team of "all lovers accepted"! The correct answer was"all letters answered".

1st Prize: “Legal Seagles” (Burness, defending champions). Team comprised John Miller, Chris Mackay, Lucy Reekie and Jill Andrew. As well as the Quaich Trophy they won lunch for four, with wine with each course at the Michelin Star Castle Terrace Restaurant kindly donated by Dominic Jack, the owner and Head Chef.
2nd Prize: “1+2+1=4” ( Church of Scotland ). Each member of this team won a £20 M & S Voucher kindly donated by W T Dunbar.
3rd Prize:
“The Unholy Alliance” ( St Andrew's and St George's West). Each member of this team won a bottle of wine, again kindly donated by W T Dunbar.

Prizes were presented by Tony Bryer, of Work Place Chaplaincy, who provides support to all who work in the city centre of Edinburgh. Catering was provided, as always, by Maggie and Betty of St Cuthbert's Church to whom we give our warm thanks. And, finally, as a result of the generous donations made on the evening and a very generous subsequent donation from Burness, the sum of £337 has gone to Fresh Start to help the homeless.

Thanks to you all and see you next year!

The pictures, in descending order and all including the Workplace Chaplain, Tony Bryers, are the Burness Team, the Church of Scotland Team, the St Andrew's and St George's West Team, the Fresh Start Team (who won a prize for the best "Team Name") and, finally, members of the OASIS Task Group showing Ben Williams, Tony Bryers, Pat Ferguson, JaniceTodd (and, additionally, Irene and Ben's Grandson, Leo).
