As you will see from the photos below, the stunning setting for this event, kindly
provided by
Hymans Robertson LLP,
was matched by a perfect early autumn Edinburgh evening!
A glass or two of wine and
canapés, courtesy of OASIS
and Gusto's Outside Catering,
helped everyone to relax after a busy day in the office and listen to what they,
individually,
or their firm might do to lift people out of homelessness.
They were addressed on this subject by Keith
Robertson, MD of Fresh Start, and also by the Rev Russell Barr, Chairman of Fresh Start's Trustees. Fresh Start is an Edinburgh charity that helps people who have been homeless get established in their new home. By working with the churches, volunteers and organisations from a broad section of the community; Fresh Start provides new tenants with essential household goods, practical and social support as well as training and employment opportunities.
There is no
doubt, from the feedback received, that the evening achieved its purpose and that this event marked
another
milestone in the countless years of support offered by St Cuthbert's Church to the homeless in our city via Fresh Start and
OASIS,
its
outreach arm
to the businesses and offices in the city centre. The first photo shows members of Marketing Concepts with the Award presented to them for the firm having done the most to help the homeless in the last year. The next photo shows guests networking prior to the Fresh Start presentation and the final photo shows guests listening to the presentation about what could be done to help the homeless people in Edinburgh. The Photos were taken by Irene Gill, wife of Ben Williams, the Convenor of the OASIS Task Group. Ben features in the middle photograph below with three lady guests.
